Latest News!

Nothing beats the feeling we at RetrokiT get when we know people enjoy the products we have spent hours, days, weeks (months sometimes!) creating. We very regularly receive, via e-mail or through our Facebook page, pictures of YOUR work, like this cute Jagdpanther from Klaas Postmus, and we want you to keep them coming, as we enjoy them VERY MUCH. Be certain that those pics and your feedback go a long way in keeping RetrokiT going!

It’s been a while since our last ‘update’ on this site, please do forgive us, we have been very busy – we still are! – with the big shows of the last quarter of the year. Followng our slightly earlier releases (1/144 Fw-190D-9 cockpit detail set, 1/100 and 1/144 Me-163 decals, World War Toons M3 Stuart conversion kit,..), we have just added a few new items to our ranges, a ‘more correct’ Sherman 75mm turret and a SU-76i conversion kit in our very popular AFV Chibi range for a start, decal sheets for 1/144 P-40Bs, Fw-190D-9s and Chibi P-40Bs too, a He-111Z conversion kit in our 1/144 aviation range and last but not least a complete 1/144 resin kit of the X-17, a famed fictional V/STOL design from a early 1960s graphic novel (this will be found in our RetroSF range, not in the 1/144 RetroWings range).

Expected within a couple of weeks are two new 1/144 X-Wing cockpit detail sets (yes, there were variations from one movie to another!), ‘more correct’ road wheels for the Meng World War Toons’ KingTiger, and a 1/144 A5M4-K conversion kit, and the slightly late to be released 1/35 JPK90, themselves to be followed in time for Xmas and the New Year, by a rather large number of 1/144 aviation and WWT goodies.

2020 should be a good year for the amateurs of 1/144 military aviation and caricaturised AFVs for sure! But we are also working on additional 1/72 AFV subjects, at least one more 1/35 Belgian AFV kit and a new Bananaaa! ‘concept’ which we hope to launch early in the New Year too.

So, keep an eye out on our Facebook page in particular where we tend to show off our latest work, patterns and releases..!

In the meantime, Happy Scale Modelling, Folks!

WIP 1/72 RetroWings Range

So we did it, we started a 1/72 aviation range, and we are pretty pleased so far with the response and feedback. It is not our intention to forget about everything else and solely focus on 1/72 aircraft, far from it, and do not expect any Tomcat, MiG-31 or even Spitfire goodies to come from us. We’ll be looking for the odd things, preferably in the light or civil aviation ‘genre’. There are some pretty interesting and nice kits out there that, we feel, deserve some loving too. But let us know what you feel about it. That’s always helpful.

Lots of other new releases hitting the catalogue and RetrokiT website too. More World War Toons stuff, new 1/100 and 1/144 Me-163 decals, new 1/35 AFV items, and some neat sets to detail those very sweet 1/144 Bandai X-Wing Fighter kits. Lots more to come before the end of the year too…

Stay tuned!

Summer Break?

As is usual this time of the year, we are taking a small break from touring the model shows, while re-building stock and preparing for the new releases expected for the second half of the year. No time to slouch though, we are busy designing new patterns, with a particular emphasis on the 1/144 aircraft and Egg Plane ranges, if only to try to keep up with the numerous releases of the past months..! Nevertheless, we expect to have new items in almost all RetrokiT ranges (except maybe the 1/32 and 1/200 aircraft ranges), lots of new items in fact, before we start hitting the Big Shows of October and November. We are also about to start not one but two new ranges, Risqué, and a 1/72 aircraft detail range, though we still unsure whether we will add to the Astir CS-77 cockpit detail set once it is released… This was a little ‘exercise’ to content a few friends, and we will see how this goes before going ‘nuclear’ on this scale!

So, see you in Mons, Belgium, towards the end of August and in the meantime, enjoy the summer and keep scale modelling, Folks!

Back to.. normal?

After numerous releases for the fans of the Chibi AFVs, we are kind of back to normality with the release of three new items this week, including our latest Bananaaa! The other two items are small things, but proof that we are still interested in those ‘areas’ and in fact we have over 15 patterns of 1/144 aircraft bits and ‘Egg Plane’ bits awaiting to be cast and released over the next few weeks, plus lots more in the making. So stay tuned, Folks!

1/144 F-5 Tiger II bits coming in..!

As we get ready for our next show in Middelkerke, on the Belgian coast, we are pleased to announce the release of yet another World War Toons conversion kit (the Hetzer!) and that of four new sets of resin bits for the 1/144 F-5E Revell kits… including the long-awaited means of turning this neat little kit into its two-seater variant..!

We should be releasing yet a few other new items before the end of the month, so stay tuned, Folks!

1st of April News (no fake news!)

We are pleased to release today on our website the latest World War Toons conversion kit, the (late) Jagdpanther.  It was released at the Euro Model Expo in Lingen, Germany, on the 30th of March and it was really nice seeing the buzz created by this new kit and the rest of the RetroTracks WWT range.  Its (still surprising!) success gives us the will to keep extending the range, and let’s face it, given the kits released by Meng so far, we could still be ‘at it’ in about two centuries!

The release of the 1/144 detail sets for the Bandai X-Wing is being postponed a little as we await the arrival of the vac canopies, possibly later this week.  Our Facebook page has been updated with some titillating pics of forthcoming 1/144 aircraft bits, do visit it for more info!!

In the meantime, keep scale modelling, Folks!

The Great Bananaaa! Sale is ON..!

While we release three new Bananaaas! (and two long-awaited 1/144 aircraft detail/conversion sets!), we have taken the decision to streamline our catalogue.  Space in our storage area, and at some shows too, is at a premium, and in order to have new items, sadly, some older items must go.  We are not saying those items we selected for the sales will never be put back into production, but this will not be our priority, unless motivated by external stimuli, like the release of a film or something like that that would, commercially, make sense.  So, while you can, grab them!

The WWT Jagdpanter conversion kit is due out at the end of March along with the first two of four detail sets designed to enhance the already super-cute 1/144 Bandai X-Wing fighter kit.  More SW stuff will follow..

In the meantime, Happy Scale Modelling, Folks!

It is very unfortunate that a family matter has us pulling out of Go Modelling, the IPMS Austria national convention show, so our next appearance at a show will be in Hornchurch, in the UK, for the Southern Expo.  As things stand at the moment, this may well be our last show in the UK for a long while, though we are poised to add a few dates this year were things to move in a more ‘positive’ way (for us) in terms of Brexit.  Time will tell, it is just a shame politicians are taking so long to come up with a decision that will affect so many, and as things go, with so little time to make adjustments.  But there you go…

The Southern Expo should see us release a few new items, 1/144 aircraft bits and some new Bananaaas! in particular.  The last batch of releases, late January, included our three new 1/72 AFV kits, and it took us and the casters a bit longer than we thought to get all kits produced and shipped.  So, apologies to all those who had to wait or are still waiting (the last kits were only shipped yesterday) to get their hands on those new kits.  We have learned that releasing three new pretty complicated kits in one go is maybe not the best way to go!  And, indeed, our next ‘batch’ of 1/72 AFV kits will only consists of a single vehicle..!  This will be the Autocar U-8144-T, due out around mid-June 2019.  This kit can be pre-ordered at a special price right now.

Anyway, we must stop rambling now and get back to work!  There are after all only 19 patterns awaiting casting right now and our heads are still full of ideas and projects!!!

Happy scale modelling, Folks!

We hear you!

We are indeed busy getting ready for our first few shows of the new ‘season’, hence the arrival of a few new items in our catalogue, the first of this new year, including some bits to hang under your 1/144 Rafales (amongst other types) and a slightly ‘different’ but nonetheless interesting item for lovers of the famed Phantom II jet plane, our first ‘version’ of the F-4 mascot, The Spook.

This first version will certainly interest those who are interested in the Luftwaffe too, and is the fruit of a ‘commission’ from one of our customers.  Going through our website, you will certainly notice that we are not particularly focused onto a particular theme (albeit some themes are more represented than others, we will grant you this), and we do like to release what we like.  But we also like to listen to our clients and a number of releases each year are in fact based upon specific requests from you, our clients.  We are currently developing a 1/72 Autocar U-8144-T kit, due to be released in June this year, following the same ‘princple’.  We hope you will like our Teutonic Spook; it was certainly entertaining to take on the project and turn in into a kit.  More Spooks are being ‘investigated’ and time will tell whether this becomes one of our many ‘series’…

Happy modelling, Folks!

New RetroTracks kits announced!

As promised we have now added four new future ‘hardware’ references to our 1/35 and 1/72 RetroTracks catalogue.  The T13 Type 3, never released in this scale ever before is to meet the numerous demands from our customers for this particular vehicle, which after all, was the most common AFV in service in Belgium in May 1940…  The JPK90 kit is more of a commission from a retired Belgian army JPK90 driver, but we know from our experience with the 1/72 kit of this AFV we released a few years ago, that this will be another best-seller too.  To this we can add a further two new 1/35 figures and in time we will also reveal the nature of some 1/35 accessory packs that will complement our other 1/35 releases.  We are set to release the three new 1/72 RetroTracks kits later this month (Berliet GPE4, Lorraine 28-1 Command Car and Citroën P104), and we thus plan to release at least another two kits during 2019, including a brand new Belgian T13 Type 1 / Type 2 kit that benefits from all the research that went into its larger 1/35 brother released in 2018, and an Autocar U-8144-T that should be followed in time by a semi-trailer and a pontoon.

Amateurs of our Chibi RetroTracks range do not despair, we are also thinking of you and the next set of releases is due in for late February 2019..!

Updates about of other ranges will follow shortly!

In the meantime, Happy New Year, Trackheads of the World!
