Next on our long list of shows to attend to this year is the Southern Expo in Hornchurch, UK. We have been attending to this show for many years now and RetokiT have been for all those years offering a special prize for the best Junior entry at the competition, a combination of our interest in promoting the hobby to the younger audiences and a celebration of a particular young modeller who left us way too early, young modeller who back in the ‘naughties’ won a Junior Best of Show at this show. This is not a place to talk ‘politics’, but unfortunately, Brexit and in particular the likeliness of the UK coming out of the European Custom Union may well prevent us from going to the Southern Expo in the future… We hope that this will not be the case.
Next show, following our attendance to the superb ‘Ransart’ show, now actually held in nearby Roselies, is the Modelbouw Happening organised by the Modelbouwclub Willebroek (aka MCW) in Bornem early March. March will be busy, three shows in three countries. We’ll be going to a number of new shows this year and will not go to a number of others that you may have been accustomed to see us at: Hoboken in Belgium and Telford in the UK are the main shows we’ve decided not to attend to anymore, this for various reasons, the ever rising price of the space being one of them. However, some of our products will still ‘make it’, as our network of distributors grows, for instance lately with our friends from Wendy’s Miniatures in the Netherlands who will be carrying, initially, our range of ‘yellow helpers’.
2017. RetrokiT, as it stands today, will be 10 years old this year in June. There has been some good times, some bad times, over 300 new releases, major upheavals in the catalogue, new departures, successes and a few failures, attendance to over 300 shows,.. Above all, the opportunity to meet a lot of like-minded people who have greatly helped shape up RetrokiT and its three main ranges, RetroTracks, RetroWings and RetroSF. It’s been a whale of a time! Thank you for your continuing support, Folks.
2017. New show season, we will as usual this time of the year, soon head for one of the cornerstone of our calendar, ‘Ransart’. ‘Ransart’ or as it should now be called ‘Roselies’ since the organisers, the Félés, are welcoming us into a new, better, bigger venue. We, as every year, look forward to being there!
2017. New products. We start off with a set of 1/72 Moisture Vaporators, the first in a series of accessories sets for SW dioramas. Also new are two more detail sets for the 1/144 Platz P-51D. More are to follow. Much more is to follow as we have been very busy with the 1/144 range lately, in fact! Watch this space…
The latest 5 new items have now been added to the RetroSF catalogue, and the 2017 show calendar is in great part set. All that remains to do is to wish you a very Happy New Year, Folks!
Time flies! 2016 has been a good year for RetrokiT, plenty of shows, plenty of new releases (52 of them all in all!), and some important decisions taken in regards to the future. Amongst those is the idea to go and meet new people at other shows, and given there is a limited number of week ends we can ‘spare’ for RetrokiT (most of us do have at least another job, and a family, you know!), this will mean not attending to some of the shows we have been regularly seen at over the past few years, including… Telford. But our expanding network of distributors means that some of our products will continue to be available at Telford and some other shows (including some we rarely or never attended to) while we push our boundaries to the South and the East. We aim to keep releasing new products at a rate similar to that of the past few years and also hope to introduce yet another Aircraft range by the middle of the New Year. More on this later, of course. In the meantime, it’s high time for our last show of the current year, in London Islington, where we hope to see you and wish you in person the Season’s Greetings..!
The first batch of new items is now available online as we set off for the UK for Scale ModelWorld. A busty bust (!) of Jessica, our Fluffy Princess (perfect companion to any of our Bananaaa!), our latest Bananaaa! (Bananaaas at Tiffany’s!), a cockpit detail set for the Tiger Model ‘Cute’ Spitfire and of course, our latest complete 1/144 kit, the Curtiss P-6E. Those lucky enough to go to Telford this year will find us in Hall 3, in the corner right opposite the big Eduard stand.
Hallowe’en. Still involved with my other business, face & body-painting, until late tonight, but I’m finally catching up with mails and orders from the past week when I was near Paris then in the UK with limited access to the net..! We will be attending to a small show in Tournai, Belgium, this coming week end, before travelling again to the UK for the IPMS UK National Convention, aka Scale ModelWorld. Lots of new items to prepare for those shows, update leaflets, price lists,.., little time to actually do any constructive work on new patterns, but we will still attempt to display a few ‘coming up soon’ items in Telford, just to, if anything, whet your appetite. The RetrokiT stand should be at the same location as last year’s in Hall 3, so come & say ‘hello’ if you are lucky enough to be in Telford that week end!
We now are right in the middle of the busiest time of the year, show-wise. Our next two stops are in France, then we will visit Tournai in Belgium and then the ‘big one’, Telford in the UK in November.
Our next show is coming up, one of our favourite haunt, where we also offer a special award for the Best Egg Plane selected from all models on show (not just the competition, where there is, by the way, a dedicated class for Egg Planes). Come and say hello and see all our latest releases!
